Hooray for Hollywood: A Week in the City of Angels

Last week I went to LA to see my fabulous cousin India and meet our little second cousin Chelsea who was out on a US holiday.

I like Los Angeles – to visit. There weather is unreal: sunny days and mild evenings were a respite from the east coast humidity.

Living there would be a whole other story.

You see, LA terrain is rather complicated and you have to drive EVERYWHERE. It looks all simple and close by (thanks Keeping up with the Kardashians and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) but the reality is winding canyons and 5 lane busy freeways to get anywhere. Public transport is virtually non existent and by noon the mountainous landscape is blanketed in a thick carpet of smog.

Highlights of the week:

In N Out Burger – the only fast food I will eat and it’s heavenly.

Getting my makeup done in MAC by Kate Nash’s makeup artist – anyone can look amazing with professional makeup

Fryman Canyon hikes – good for the buns and the views are sensational.

Seeing a small live music gig – Nomi Abadi and Deja Mae Howell are so talented.

Sunset Towers restaurant in West Hollywood – just go and see for yourself. Make sure you book ahead.

People stopping to ask if Indie and I were sisters – close, we are first cousins.

Unfortunately, no celebrity sightings unlike last time. Joe, Indie’s flatmate is quite good at spotting them although we didn’t spend as much time with him as my trip in 2012.

Here’s the week in pictures 😉 ‘Til next time Lala Land!
